The Arc’s two substance abuse treatment programs are tailored to meet the needs of different groups. The first program is designed for people who experience an addiction, a developmental disability, and a mental illness. The second program is designed for people who are Deaf or hard of hearing and seeking assistance in recovery from an addiction.
Outpatient Substance Abuse Services
The Arc offers substance abuse counseling individually and in groups in addition to case management and individual skill development for the adult who experiences mental illness, an addiction and a developmental disability.
Substance Abuse Counseling for Deaf and Hard of Hearing
For people who are Deaf or hard of hearing, The Arc offers the following services with counselors fluent in American Sign Language (ASL):
- Substance abuse assessment
- Individual counseling
- Group counseling
The Arc’s counseling program satisfies the requirements of the Alcohol Safety Action Program (ASAP) for people with misdemeanor convictions for “drinking under the influence” (DUI).
