Listening to and learning from each person we serve is the center of everything we do at The Arc. Getting to know each person as a unique individual with hopes, dreams, and gifts is the starting point. Families are an important component of the planning process since they know their loved one better than anyone does.
The Arc’s goal is to provide services of the highest possible quality to the people we serve, in the firm belief that doing so will enable them to lead rich, full, joyful lives. To ensure our services meet this level of quality, The Arc works with The Council on Quality and Leadership. The Council is a national accreditation organization dedicated to ensuring people who experience disabilities or mental illness receive services that foster community inclusion, dignity, and quality of life.
The best judges of how well we are doing are the people we serve. Measuring quality by the satisfaction level of the people we serve and their families ensures the services we provide are making the kind of difference that really matters. Providing individualized services tailored to meet the needs of each person who entrusts us with his/her care is our promise.
We view the challenge of excellence as a continuing journey. “Good” is not good enough for the people we serve. We strive on a daily basis for “great.” And we know that what is “great” today may not be “great” tomorrow . . . both because we get smarter and learn better ways of doing things and because the goals of the people we serve will change as we help them achieve their initial goals.
Every person in our community deserves to be treated with respect. We do our best every day to make sure no person in our community is left out or left behind because a disability creates the need for some extra help and support. And we’ll keep doing it as long as we’re needed.
